Virginia Rifle and Pistol Club
Steel Challenge

Steel Challenge is a speed shooting competition that consists of stages with steel targets of various geometric shapes, at distances typically between 7 and 20 yards. Competitors are scored solely by the time it takes to complete each stage, and the match winner is the competitor with the lowest overall time.

Steel Challenge matches at the Virginia Rifle and Pistol Club are all inclusive, club membership is recommended but not required, and are open to shooters of all skill levels. Any safe handgun may be used, and all ammo is required to be loaded with cast, cast and polymer coated, or cast and copper PLATED lead projectiles. STEEL CORE AMMO IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN. Concealment cover is not required, and any holster/magazine holders that securely hold the equipment are permitted. While some stage exceptions may apply, there are typically no limits on magazine or firearm ammunition capacities.

Eye protection, including side shields, and hearing protection is required for all participants and observers.

Steel Challenge matches are a great way to gather with like minded firearms enthusiasts, develop/enhance basic firearm skills, and maybe even gain practical experience with different types of firearms and equipment.
